HAMBURG, N.Y. – The D’Youville women’s cross country won the Meghan Memorial Saturday afternoon, which was hosted by Hilbert College.
The Saints had three of the top five finishers and four inside the top six in the 5k race. Hannah Kennedy once again was the top finisher for the Saints. The sophomore finished second with a 21:51.0, which was 11 seconds off the winning time from Erin Hardick of Medaille. Kennedy has led the Saints at all five meets so far in 2021.
D’Youville won with a team score of 26. Hilbert was second with 51 points. Medaille had 52 points to finish third in the team standings.
Sonya Krezmien made her season debut for the Saints and finished fourth (22:08). Riley Burns and Megan Deer were right behind in fifth and sixth respectively. Burns stopped the clock in 22:37 and Deer in 22:38. Burns’ time was a season-best at the 5k distance.
Kaitlyn Furtado rounded out the scoring finishers for D’Youville with a ninth-place finish (25:06). Furtado shaved over a minute off her best 5k time this season on Saturday.
The Saints are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 16 at the Canisius College Alumni Classic. It is the final race before the ECC Championships on Oct. 23.
