
FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Sydney Rice era of D’Youville women’s tennis started with a 7-2 win at Fredonia in the season opener for the Saints Friday.
The Saints won at second and third doubles and took five of the six singles matches.
The team of Camilla Duteil and Yuliia Kashtelian won 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. The duo was making their collegiate debuts on Friday. Taylor Nash and Katelyn Hoover were victorious 7-6 at No. 2 doubles.
D’Youville controlled the contest in singles play. Duteil won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles over Princess Unita Obi, who she beat in doubles play. Kashtelian cruised at No. 2 singles (6-0, 6-1). Nash and Hoover both won their singles matches at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. Katrina Whipple picked up a win at No. 5 singles over Emmanuella Nortey, 6-1, 6-4.
Up next for the Saints is a road contest at Alfred University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
