
Wrapping up its season on a strong note, the D'Youville women's basketball team swept three matches with Penn State Behrend on Saturday at Rolling Meadow Lanes in Erie, Pa. Edging out the Lions in a pair of traditional one-game matches, the Saints followed that up by closing the 2021 campaign with a baker-match victory over their hosts.
The Saints started the morning by rolling to an 848-637 score in the first traditional match of the day, with freshman Emmalie Rome bowling a team-high 201 in the game and senior Ashley Len following that with a score of 194.
In the second traditional match with the Lions, D'Youville was once again paced by Rome, as she tallied a 211 score herself to lead the Saints to a 790-761 win. Rome was helped in match No. 2 by junior Emily Williams, who chipped in a score of 171.
The baker match saw the Saints continue to rack up high pin totals, as D'Youville swept all five games of the match to take an 850-668 victory. With a 146-137 win in the first game. The Saints pulled away with 180-127 and 188-143 wins in the second and third games and finished the baker match with 161-135 and 175-126 victories in the fourth and fifth games.
Notables: With the three wins on Saturday, the Saints end the season at 5-8 … The Saints had more success the second time on the lanes at Rolling Meadow, improving up a 0-4 day when D'Youville opened the campaign against Mercyhurst on Feb. 14.
