The D'Youville women's bowling team continued its 2020-21 campaign on Thursday evening, taking part in a quad match hosted by former AMCC rival Medaille at Classic Lanes in Kenmore, N.Y. Competing against the Mavericks and fellow East Coast Conference foes Daemen and Roberts Wesleyan in a Baker Match-Five Game Total Pinfall format, the Saints dropped each matchup despite competing deep into each contest.
The Saints opened the night with the Redhawks, holding a slim lead after the first three games at 506-475 (156-125 D'Youville, 175-150 Roberts Wesleyan, 200-175 D'Youville). Roberts Wesleyan clawed back with a 194-169 win in the fourth game to cut the D'Youville lead to 675-669, and used a big final game, 211-163, to take the match from the Saints at a total pinfall of 880-838.
The next team on the docket was the host, Medaille, with the squads splitting the first two games (158-136 D'Youville, 181-158 Medaille). Saints had their highest score of the night in the third game against the Mavericks, defeating Medaille by a 224-195 edge to take an overall lead at 540-512. Unfortunately, a 187-150 win by the Mavericks in game four cut the D'Youville lead to one pin, and the hosts pulled away in the fifth game to grab a 891-836 final victory.
In the final match of the night, Daemen swept all five games from D'Youville. The Saints lost by only nine pins in the first game at 167-158, but Daemen took the next four games by scores of 187-152, 183-148, 168-140 and 161-144. With the sweep, the Wildcats earned a 867-742 final score over their conference-mates.
Up Next: The Saints return to action tomorrow (Feb. 19) when they host a quad match against the same three opponents at Airport Lanes.
