Bowling Picks Up First Two Victories of Season at Daemen Quad-Match

After almost a week off, the D'Youville women's bowling team put together a total team effort to go 2-1 on Wednesday night at Allie Brandt Lanes. The quad-match, hosted by East Coast Conference foe Daemen, saw the Saints fall in a tight five-game baker's match with Hilbert before pulling out victories over the Wildcats and Medaille.

The Saints opened the evening in Lockport, N.Y., by losing two narrow games (160-162 and 131-149) to Hilbert before taking the third game by a 161-148 score and tying the fourth game, 150-150. The Hawks kept hold of their slim lead by getting a 184-165 win I the final game, taking the match by a 793-767 total pinfall.

D'Youville responded to the loss by taking the first game over Daemen, 162-141. The Wildcats then took the next two games by 204-165 and 174-164 scores, but a 180-124 win in the fourth game put the Saints in front, and a 161-160 victory in the fifth game sealed a 832-803 match win, the first for the Saints on the season.

The Saints closed the night by edging Medaille, 1004-978. The D'Youville win started with a 170-145 victory in the first game, followed by a 234-209 triumph in the second game, the highest single-game pinfall for the Saints on the night. The third game went to the Mavericks, 247-171, but D'Youville took the next game, 220-164, and narrowly lost the final game, 213-209, to hold onto the match victory.

Up Next – The Saints close out the 2020-21 campaign on Saturday, Feb. 27, with a dual-match at Penn State Behrand in Erie, Pa.
