In the second game of its season-opening weekend against No. 17 Daemen, the D'Youville women's basketball team dropped a 90-37 contest to the Wildcats in East Coast Conference action Sunday afternoon at Lumsden Gymnasium. The Saints fell to 0-2 (0-2 ECC) on the season, while the victory improved Daemen to 3-0 overall, with the defending ECC Champions holding a 2-0 record in league play.

Daemen's Caroline White led all scorers with 20 points, while her teammate Katie Titus tacked on 17 points. Sophomore Danielle Hore paced the Saints by tallying eight points and three rebounds. Fellow sophomore Haley Kirisits recorded seven points to go with three steals. White finished one rebound short of a double-double, grabbing nine rebounds for Daemen, while Kirisits' three steals matched her career high.

Despite getting the first basket of the game off a Sara Pfeiffer jumper, the Saints could not hold the lead long as Daemen pulled out to a 26-14 advantage after a high-scoring first quarter, powered by nine points from White. The host Wildcats turned it up in the second quarter, widening the gap to 48-20 by the time the first half concluded, as Titus broke out for seven points in the frame. Another dominant quarter in the third put Daemen up, 71-30, before a 19-point fourth quarter capped off the 90-37 victory for the nationally-ranked Wildcats.

Sunday's contest was the second of three contests this season between the two Western New York schools, with the teams scheduled to play each other one more time on Feb. 10 at the College Center Gymnasium.
