In its long-awaited return to the court, the D'Youville men's volleyball team was unable to handle the offensive threat that was Daemen, being swept in three sets by the Wildcats on Saturday evening in the College Center Gymnasium. Taking the frames by scores of 25-11, 25-17 and 25-13, the visiting Wildcats moved to 1-0 on the season, while the Saints now sit 0-1 for the campaign.

Leading the way with 11 kills for Daemen, Robert Patzer was a force on the offensive and defensive side by hitting .846 and tallying a team-best five digs as well. Zac Schneider tacked on eight kills and three service aces himself, while Michael Krueger registered 20 assists. For D'Youville, freshman Joshua Roy paced his team in kills (four) and digs (six), while senior Ali Khadra put up three blocks assists on the Saints' side.

The first set saw the teams trade points on the first two serves, but a 5-0 run by Daemen gave enough of a cushion for the Wildcats at 6-1 for the rest of the frame. A closing 10-2 Daemen run that included four-straight points off kills clinched the 25-11 set win over the Saints.

In the second set, D'Youville scored the opening two points and retook the lead at 4-3. Following that was a five-point Wildcats rally sparked by a Saints service error that saw the D'Youville lead slip away, but a three-point spurt by the Saints later in the set narrowed the gap to a 15-12 Daemen edge. A quick three-point counter by the Wildcats, including kills from Patzer and Schneider prevented any comeback, as Daemen went up 2-0 in the match with the 25-17 victory.

D'Youville once again had a strong start to a set, grabbing a 3-1 advantage in the third frame but surrendered a four-point rally to Daemen, sinking their efforts to extend the match as the Wildcats cruised to a 25-13 victory that secured the 3-0 sweep.
