The D'Youville men's soccer team returned to Dobson Field in emphatic fashion, blanking former AMCC rival Hilbert, 9-0, on Thursday night. Five goals from senior Nick Dumond powered the Saints' offensive attack while senior goalkeeper Kyle Dick only needed to make one save between the pipes for the Red and White.
The opening win of the season improved the Saints to 1-1 on the season while the Hawks will fall to 0-2.
Dumond opened his 2021 scoring account in the 13th minute on an assist from sophomore Chris Irakoze. Just over ten minutes later, Dumond found the back of the net once more, this time unassisted. Junior midfielder Alex Armbrust scored his first goal of the season in the 32nd minute before Dumond added two more goals in the 36th and 37th minutes. Dumond rounded out his scoring on the evening in the 41st minute on an unassisted effort that put D'Youville ahead 6-0 going into intermission.
Dick and junior William Anderson combined to post the shutout, with Dick earning the victory, while Elhadja Anne suffered the loss for the Hawks despite six saves.
