Heading into the final match of the spring season, the D'Youville men's soccer team knew it was in for a tough battle, taking on a Daemen team that upset East Coast Conference foe Roberts Wesleyan earlier in the week. The Saints battled all night long but were unable to generate enough offense to match their defensive effort in the 2-0 defeat Friday evening at Dobson Field.

The final setback of the season saw the Saints finish the spring with a 1-2 record, as the Wildcats improved to 3-2 overall.

The Wildcats notched their first goal of the game when Dennis Montero Guerrero found Eman Wajed, who's header beat junior goalkeeper William Anderson to break the deadlock. The Saints locked down defensively after the opening goal, holding the shot-happy Wildcats scoreless for the remainder of the first half.

In the second half, the game opened up in D'Youville's favor as the Saints found more success attacking in the Daemen half. Sophomore forward Cristino Almonte nearly tied the game in the 52nd minute as he broke through the Daemen backline but his shot to the bottom-left corner was stopped by Wildcat goalkeeper Jarrett Lecceadone. Just over six minutes later, Christian Lewin's quick strike inside the D'Youville 18-yard box doubled the Daemen's advantage and silenced the Saints' comeback attempt.

Between the pipes, Anderson made six saves on the night while Lecceadone made one on his end.
