The D'Youville men's basketball team was back in action Wednesday evening with a road tilt at Daemen, their second trip to Lumsden Gymnasium in two weeks and third meeting in 14 days. The Wildcats led early and often, defeating the Saints for the third time this season, 98-67.

Junior forward Jaeger Martino got the Saints on the board first with a jumper, putting the Saints up two in the first twenty seconds. Martino connected again from two-point range and senior forward Grant Beyer added a jumper and a layup to deadlock the game at eight points apiece at the under 16-minute media timeout. The Wildcats made their move out of the break, jumping out to a 27-12 advantage after a 19-4 run to take control of the game. Martino silenced the run with another jumper, his fifth and sixth points of the game. Daemen pushed their first-half advantage up to 20 points before taking a 19-point advantage into the halftime break.

The Saints strung together a better offensive rhythm to begin the second half. Martino added a pair of layups and a jumper to his first-half total of 12 points and freshman guard Mason Putnam added a lay-in to cut their deficit to 16 points at 56-40 just over three minutes into the final period of play. Daemen countered with a 10-1 run to build a 25-point lead, their largest at that point in the game. Freshman guard Trent Scott ended the scoring spurt with a three-ball at the 13:41 mark of the second half.

Notables - The Saints were led in scoring by Martino (18 points, 9-16 FG), junior forward Garrian Wade (14 points, 4-9 FG), and Scott (8 points, 2-9 FG) ... Martino's 18 points were a season-high for the Niagara Falls native ... The Saints struggled once again to find the bottom of the net, shooting 36.6 percent from the field compared to Daemen's 54.4 percent clip.

Three Wildcats posted double-figure efforts on Wednesday, paced by guard Sean Fasoyiro (31 points, 12-20 FG), center Andrew Sischo (25 points, 9-11 FG), and guard Andrew Mason (15 points, 6-9 FG) ... Daemen controlled the glass over D'Youville, outrebounding the Saints, 46-38.

Up Next - The Saints return to the College Center Gym tomorrow evening, Feb. 25, for a non-conference clash with USCAA member Bryant & Stratton (Buffalo). Tip-off between the Saints and Bobcats is slated for 6 p.m.
