Dulniak Concludes Career with AMCC Defensive Player of the Year Honors

Buffalo, NY - After an outstanding career, senior goalkeeper Megan Dulniak (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) was honored by being named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Defensive Player of the Year, announced the conference Tuesday.

Megan was consistently one of the best players on the field at all times this season for the women. Starting all 18 games in which she played, Megan allowed two or less goals in 15 games and made five or more saves in 13 games. With exceptional leadership, instincts, hands, range, agility, and footwork, Dulniak proved time and time again to be an invaluable member of the women's success. Her abilties were recognized by the conference as not only has she been named AMCC Defensive Player of the Year, but she has also been named an AMCC First Team All-Conference player.

In each of their five conference wins on their way to the third seed in the AMCC playoffs, Dulniak recorded a shutout. She added a sixth shutout in a tie against Franciscan in the regular season but then added a seventh shutout in the first round of the AMCC playoffs in a 2-0 victory over Franciscan. All but one conference opponent was limited to one goal or less due to an outstanding defense from the Spartans.

At the end of the regular season, Megan led the conference in save percentage (.866), was tied for second in shutouts (6), third in saves (136), tied for fourth in wins (5), and fifth in goals allowed (21) and goals against average (1.41). When it came to conference play, Dulniak was first in save percentage (.935) and shutouts (6), second in saves (86), save percentage (0.66), and minutes played (813:07), third in wins (5), and fourth in goals allowed (6).

Throughout the season, Megan was named back-to-back AMCC Defensive Player of the Week. She was named the AMCC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year after an AMCC Second Team All-Conference selection last season. As a freshman she was an AMCC Third Team All-Conference selection.

Dulniak has put together one of the best careers in the history of the program. She ends her career first in saves (461), shutouts (28), save percentage (.852), games started (67), games played (67), and minutes played (5950:16) while finishing second in wins (29) and goals against average (1.21) and the single-game save record with 28. Megan has consistently been the heart of the Spartan's defense since her freshman season and has finally been recognized as the conference's best defensive player.

At Cheektowaga High School, Megan was a diverse student-athlete. She played soccer and softball for four years each while bowling for six years. In soccer she was First Team All-WNY (2014) and First Team ECIC All-Star (2011-2014) selections, Team Defensive MVP (2011-2013), Team MVP (2014), and First Team All-Bee Team (2014).

An ESS major, Megan is the daughter of Leon and Maryann Dulniak.
