D'Youville Falls to Rochester in Women's Lacrosse

Rochester, NY – The D'Youville women's lacrosse team lost their second straight game on Sunday afternoon as they lost to the Rochester Yellow Jackets by the final score of 20-3.

Throughout the first half, Rochester was in control of the game. They scored nine goals in the first 10 minutes and scored 12 before the Spartans scored their first goal of the game. Jillian Golding (Lockport, NY/Lockport) scored with 13:28 to go in the first half to make the score 12-1, but the Yellow Jackets added two more in the final ten minutes of the half to lead 14-1 after 30 minutes of play.

After Rochester scored the first two goals of the second half, Marissa Markott (Sanborn, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) scored her first goal of the game to make the score 16-2 in favor of the Yellow Jackets. With just over a minute to go in the game, Rochester led 20-2 before the Spartans scored their third goal of the game, coming from Markott to bring to score to its final of 20-3.

Markott led the team with two goals and Golding added one. Isabella Lucania (Webster, NY/Webster-Schroeder) led the team with three shots while Marina Campbell (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Catholic), Julie Fleming (Tonawanda, NY/Mt. St. Mary's Academy), and Golding each had two ground balls. Goalkeeper Megan Dulniak (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) also had a pair of ground balls and made 12 saves in the game.

D'Youville will next play this Tuesday, April 24 as they play in their final road game of the season against Medaille at 7:30pm
