D'Youville Reaches End of Season in AMCC Playoffs

Steubenville, OH – The D'Youville men's soccer team saw their season end in the first round of the AMCC playoffs as they fell to the host Franciscan Barons on Saturday afternoon by the final score of 6-1.

Just 1:10 into the game the Barons took the lead to immediately put the Spartans in a hole. The Barons would continue to put a great deal of pressure on the D'Youville defense before they would add a second goal to their lead in the 35th minute on a low, hard shot along the ground.

With just over four minutes to go in the first half, the Spartans were able to get on the board as Hunter Sherman (Lockport, NY/Lockport) scored his eighth goal of the season to bring new life to the Spartans. The two teams went into halftime with Franciscan leading D'Youville 2-1.

Much like they did to start the game, the Barons got on the board early in the second half with a goal in the 51st minute. They tacked on goals in the 62nd, 66th, and 85th minutes to go on to win the game 6-1.

Goalkeeper Kyle Dick (Churchville, NY/Churchville-Chili) made 14 saves in the game with Sherman scoring the lone goal. Josh Hammer (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home), Sherman, AJ Wade (Pendleton, NY/Starpoint), and Alf Egge (Stavanger, Norway/Stavanger International) each had shots on goal in the game.
